• Hidden trails and villages in Pu Loung

From Hanoi, the first stop is Mai Chau and the village of Poom Coom. The drive that takes about four hours with beautiful view. Make time for a short walk to learn more about the ethnic Thai people that lives here. Continue on for another hour.

Finally reached Pu Luong nature reserve. To reach the village of Kho Muong, you need to trek for about one – two hours, some of it uphill. It is worth the effort! When you reach there enjoy spectacular view of villages and terraces. Enjoy traditional dinner and stay in bungalows at Pu Luong Retreat.

The next day enjoy a bike ride from village to village. Stop for a chat with the locals and observe how they send their morning. Spend the afternoon on the river, canoeing!

We can highly recommend an early morning start! Witness the local morning activities and the nature wake up for another day. After breakfast, it is time to move on to another village! Hike through views of valleys, nice terraces and peaceful villages. Stop for a picnic lunch before reaching Hieu after 5 – 6 hrs. Spend a couple of nights in this peaceful village. Take part in the village life or go for a day hike in the area.

Recommended stay: 5 – 7 days. We recommend combining this experience with other experiences in Vietnam.

Activities you can do: hike, village experiences, bikerides, kanoeing Did you know? The geography of Pu Loung is an important example of a lowland limestone forest ecosystem covered by rich tropical forest.

Take a sip of local specialty - home-brewed “can” wine in Pu Luong. The glutinous rice is first soaked and cooked, then water and yeast (made of special herbs) is added before the mixture is left to ferment. The resulting broth is later distilled to produce alcohol.
