• Rustic Maramures, a journey back in time

North in Romania, bordering Ukraine, you find the beautiful country of Maramures. It is a mountainous and forested. It is iconic with its centuries-old wooden churches and architecture. The Maramureș churches are high timber constructions with characteristic tall, slim bell towers at the western end of the building. With probably the most beautiful decorated graveyards in front of it.

Embark a journey back in time. The friendly people will welcome you to their homes through a wooden carved gate! Stunning!

Spend time in the village Hoteni where you will stay at a beautiful guesthouse, more than 100 years old. The next few days the experiences will be lined up! Visit local artists including wood carver, hat maker, wood producers, weavers etc. See special old wooden churches and houses more than 2 - 300 years old. Maramures is famous for its beautiful woodcarving. Visit the villages Harnicesti and beautiful Breb. Why not spend a day hiking or rent a bike?

Back at the guesthouse, meet Ioan Pop, who is co - owner of the guesthouse togethe with his wife. Pop is often associated with folk music from Maramures. Enjoy your own private concert during dinner.

And hey, on your way to Maramures, why not stop at one of Romania´s many wineries for wine tasting and lunch? A lot of wine is being produced in Romania, but not many produce in big quantities. So, feel honored!
