Our intern Tiphaine Texier has arrived Nepal! She will be in the country the next four months. This is a joint program with our partner Socialtours, and she will be working and learning from both companies equally. We asked Tiphaine a couple of questions. Why she choose to apply for the internship and her impressions so far.
TIPHAINE IN NEPAL - READY FOR WORK AND FESTIVAL!
Since I was a little girl, I've always enjoyed learning new languages and traveling around in order to see how people think and live in other places. I've also been raised with many human values, and it was important for me to find a job linked to them. Responsible tourism as Ethical Travel Portal conducts fits me totally. In addition, so far as I remember I have always been somehow attracted to Nepal. Its spirituality, its extreme sceneries, its life philosophy... With this project, I've got the possibility to achieve everything at once ! A dream 🙂
So far, life in Nepal has been a huge surprise. Each single day is an adventure, with its own amount of unknown, unexpected and unseen experiences. I've been touched by the Nepalese kindness, especially in stressful situations, like when I found out that my suitcase didn't follow me to Kathmandu, or when I suddenly got a ear infection. People are open, smiling in all circumstances. I must add that Nepalese food is amazing, very far away from the Norwegian hotdog or salmon!
ONE OF MANY FESTIVALS IN NEPAL
When it comes to life in the city, here in Kathmandu, even the apparent mess in the streets has its own logic! We westerners only need to adapt, because yes, Nepal is a totally different planet compared to ours 🙂 But what an incredible planet it is!
