Yoga for Antardristi is a joint project between Ethical Travel Portal (ETP) and Socialtours (ST) where we raise money for the not for profit organization, Antardristi. ETP was established with the aim of using tourism as a tool for development and be an active contributor through tourism in destinations where we send our travelers. ST has for the past ten years been doing social work for different causes in Nepal. The common principles and guidelines in both companies are very compatible and have resulted on partnership in different projects. Yoga for Antardristi was a natural next…
My first journey to Nepal finally happened in 2009. It was during this trip Raj Gyawali (Founder, Director at Socialtours - ETP-partner) introduced me to Vinita Adhikari, Psychologist, Founder and Director of Antardristi. The important work they do was never forgotten. After a second meeting in April 2013 (again organized by Raj) the decision was made for us together to support to the organization in one way or another.
Our first target is 4000 euro / 32 000 NOK. This will give 25 children a wellness packages including doctor and dental check-up, first aid training, hygiene kits, and work out sessions like yoga, dance, football and martial art. All contributes to build up the confidence of the children. The money will be raised during a series of donation based yoga events and charity trips to Nepal.
A warm-hearted organisation... The trustful pleasant atmosphere hits you when you visit Antardristi in Nepal. The organization is working in the field of mental health and aim to empower youth and children to overcome various psychological problems and live a healthy life.
Antardristi gives counseling services to minor victims of sexual abuse. They provide the parents of a victim support and training to provide the children a good and stable environment when they return home.
The organization has three residential centers where the children stay for about one year. They are provided with food, access to education and counseling to give the them the best platform for a better and safer future. The centers are called “Maya”, which means love... Of course it cost money to run Antardristi. They are not able to help as many as they would like. Our project will help them another step in right direction.
“12 year old Ayoushma Lama was an orphan with no memory of her parents. Her uncle admitted her to Gokarna School in Kathmandu. She was well mannered, studying grade 4, and an excellent student. One day a boy from the orphanage abused her. After that day, she had worries and fear in her eyes constantly. She entered Antardristi on June 9, 2008 and immediately received counseling. She had great success, and soon smiles were once again on her face. She was coping very well with her trauma and in a follow up session after leaving Antardristi, her principal told us that she had improved and was once again interested in her studies and appeared to be living as she was before. ”
Yoga is a natural tool to use in this project. Finding inner peace and balance between body and mind, is something that Antardristi relates to. They use yoga in their therapy.
Yoga Marathon - a series of yoga events for Antardristi... We have invited several yoga studios to take part in our project. The respond has been amazing. Many instructors will be donating a yoga session for Antardristi. The sessions are based on donation. The participant give the amount of money they feel like. All the money will go to Antardristi.
Charity yoga trips to Nepal... During Easter we have two trips to Nepal. Both trips are set up as a charity trip where we challenge the participants to raise a target amount of money for Antardristi.
The first trip is Yoga Trekking in the Mountains. This trip includes 8-days trek to Gosainkunda. The particiants are challenged to raise 0,12 euro / 1 NOK per meter of the 4609m Laurebina pass) they will climb. Medium level on this trip (yoga, all levels).
The second trip is a Yoga Retreat. This trip will fit all levels.
Both itineraries include visiting the Antardristi with yoga sessions together with the kids. This is a fantastic opportunity to combine “doing something good” and have a fantastic experience in one of the world’s most majestic countries.
