Our Commitment to the Glasgow Declaration

As proud signatories of the Glasgow Declaration on Climate Action in Tourism, Ethical Travel Portal is committed to transforming the way travel impacts the planet and communities. This is our mid-2025 progress report, reflecting the actions we are taking to align with the Declaration’s five pathways: Measure, Decarbonise, Regenerate, Collaborate, and Finance (Giving Back).

Through initiatives like STOMP.travel, Resonate.travel, and our charitable arm GreenBox, we are working towards transparent, low-impact, and community-driven travel.

This report shares how we are putting our commitments into practice—tracking our impact, reducing emissions, supporting local communities, and inspiring change in the travel industry.

Our Actions Aligned with the Glasgow Declaration

1. Measure

Understanding our impact is the first step.

STOMP.travel, a tool we initiated and financed, helps measure both social and environmental impacts of travel.

It works by offering radical financial transparency, clearly showing travellers where their money goes—whether it stays within local communities or flows out to external suppliers. This separation helps travellers make informed choices.

It also helps us—and our partners—focus on working with small, local businesses that are more sustainable, ensuring our operations align with our values.

2. Decarbonise

We reduce emissions through how we operate:

3. Regenerate

We believe travel can be a force for good.

Our platform Resonate.travel amplifies local voices and stories, inspiring meaningful connections between travellers and destinations.

With a dedicated section on responsible travel, we focus on storytelling that celebrates culture, nature, and community pride, helping regenerate local identities.

4. Collaborate

We are stronger together.

5. Giving Back

We believe in sharing the benefits of tourism.

10% of our profits are pledged to GreenBox, our charitable fund that supports community-driven projects in Norway, The Gambia, and Nepal.

An example from 2023: our team at Ethical Norway chose to donate 25% of the year’s fund (5980 NOK) to Hold Norge Rent / Keep Norway Clean, an organisation working to keep Norway litter-free through clean-up efforts across the country.

Through GreenBox, we ensure that travel doesn’t just minimise harm—but also delivers positive social and environmental impacts directly to the communities we work with.

Our Vision for the Future of Travel

At Ethical Travel Portal, we believe that responsible travel starts with inspiration—and ends with accountability.

This is how we drive change:

Through our operational arm EthicalNorway.com, we put this into practice—running trips that prioritise low-carbon travel, local benefit, and meaningful connections.
